12 Days of Giving = 10 Days of Bribery

As you are well aware, BlackBook is competing in the 12 Days of Giving versus other NYC media companies to benefit the Food Bank For New York City. I’m pleased to report we edged past Flavorpill this morning on the leaderboard, but it’s a long road ahead to catch up to those One Percenters at Curbed.

We’ve already volunteered various acts of self-humiliation to donors who help us achieve particular milestones toward our $5,000 goal. But it’s become clear that self-abuse alone will not feed these the hungry (don’t read anything into that).

So in the spirit of contest-rigging and rule-warping that made America great, we’ll roll out a different material incentive for the remaining days of the drive. Today’s bribe: anyone who donates $36 or more will receive a free year’s subscription to BlackBook. A $30 value! $36 feeds a child for two months, or 25 pounds of bell peppers + 40 pounds of bananas, take your pick. This bribe is valid for the full term of the charity drive (and is retroactive as well for those who have already ponied up).

More bribes will be announced daily for the next 9 days, most of which will be limited to the day of, so look forward to … minutes of compelling charity drama. Meanwhile, DONATE.
